In lieu of the donations Hobby Horse has made in the past to national equine-related associations and scholarships, we have an exciting new program called Hobby Horse Rookie Rewards.

Rookie Rewards is a western walk-trot horsemanship class for novice riders at open horse shows. Rookie Rewards class winners receive a $100 Hobby Horse gift certificate and ribbons for first through fifth place.

In 2008, the first year of the Rookie Rewards program, Hobby Horse worked with more than 150 clubs in sponsoring over 300 Rookie Rewards classes. We want to recognize newcomers to the show ring with an exciting class and great prizes—please partner with us on Rookie Rewards!

In exchange for a club’s mailing list of show entries and club members, Hobby Horse provides a $100 gift certificate to first place in each Rookie Rewards class, and beautiful ribbons 1st—5th. We also provide a printed pattern and instructions for the class that can be copied and handed out at the show—it’s fun and easy!

Important 2009 Program Changes:

1. Novice Rider has not won more than 3 (three) blue ribbons in any independent riding class, anywhere, any time. (Lead-line and halter classes do not count towards the novice eligibility.)

2. Rookie Rewards class specs may be modified to be conducted as a reinsmanship class for driving.

3. Rookie Rewards may be offered at rated horse shows (AQHA, APHA, etc.) with Hobby Horse approval if class does not conflict with rules of rating association.

Approval Procedure:

1. Rookie Rewards applicants must be approved by Hobby Horse and will be notified via email.

2. All applications and other materials must be submitted electronically at least 8 weeks before show date(s). Faxes and mailed info will not be accepted.

3. Each club application will be assigned a club code which must be included on all future correspondence.

4. Each participating club or show will receive a class award set(s) with catalogs, gift certificates, and ribbons when their mailing list has been received and is verified by Hobby Horse. Verification consists of removing duplicates and verifying legitimate addresses. Show materials will be mailed via FedEx to contact person on application.

5. The number of Rookie Reward class award sets is based upon the quantity of names submitted. Verifiable names may include membership lists, show bill mailing lists, and/or recent show entry lists. Please include e-mail addresses if available.

• 51-100 verifiable names = One Rookie Rewards class
• 101+ verifiable names = One additonal Rookie Rewards class for each additional 50 names

6. Show bills must list “Hobby Horse Rookie Rewards Walk-Trot Horsemanship” and include the following link for reference on the show bill: http://www.hobbyhorseinc/rookierewards

7. Names submitted may receive Hobby Horse catalogs and e-mail newsletters several times a year. We do not sell or rent the names. Recipients may opt out by clicking here.

8. Hobby Horse reserves the right to approve or deny any club’s Rookie Rewards application at any time.

9. At this time, we are only sponsoring shows in the United States.

10. We will include upcoming shows with Rookie Rewards classes on our website at www.hobbyhorseinc.com and provide a link to your show’s information, if available.

11. Please send us photos and comments from your Rookie Rewards winners so we may include them on our website.
